Nathalia Santiago: Summer intern 2018
Which course did you do with Amplify Trading and when?
I attended the Summer Internship Programme in June 2018.
Why did you choose Amplify Trading and how did you hear about us?
I heard about Amplify Trading from a cousin that was living in London (he is also from Brazil). By that time, he had done the Amplify Trading Career Programme and told me how amazing his experience was. I started searching for more information online and saw that Amplify Trading had a very good reputation.
How have you found it as a woman working in financial markets and what advice would you give to other women considering the sector for a career?
I think being a woman working in financial markets is very challenging. It has both good side and bad side. It is notable that this market is dominated by men, so as a woman you have to break a lot of prejudgement barriers to finally get people’s trust.
But, I do think that if you like the sector, you shouldn’t be afraid of getting in this role just because of the gender. Each man and woman has the same potential.
What are you doing now?
Right now, I am an Intern at Safra’s Brokerage. I’m working with fixed income and equities. I deal with clients and managers distributing fixed income products and talking about equities.
Did the Amplify Trading experience help during the application and interview process?
After returning to Brazil, I started looking for an Internship. Having the Amplify Trading diploma on my CV, created a lot of attention, during the application process. It also helped me so much during my interviews! I could tell them that I had not just studied markets, but I had actually traded some important events.
Besides that, I got knowledge about several areas, such as, Investment Banking, Hedge Funds, and Asset Management which was very important during the interview process.
