Elia Carinci: Incoming trainee broker

What course did you do with Amplify?
I took the Internship program in 2017 but decided to switch to the professional training.
What was your experience before starting the programme?
Before attending the course, I had no prior experience in financial markets.
What was the most challenging part in learning to trade?
The most challenging part in learning to trade was not to lose control when in loss and staying focused. For me the emotional management and discipline were the biggest areas to learn and improve over time. I qualified to continue trading with Amplify after completing the course which helped give me time to develop this specific area alongside my peers and mentors.
What were the mentors like at Amplify?
Absolutely Amazing. I learnt both fundamental and technical analysis and most important to me the lessons and advice on managing my psychology.
Did Amplify provide any careers support?
Yes, I came to Amplify with limited knowledge of the roles in finance but by working with the team I was able to utilise my growing knowledge obtained from trading into being able to qualify for trading and broker related roles. Specifically, this was help with my CV, interview prep, through to an assessment day I had with a major broking firm.
Did the experience help with your applications for future roles?
Before Amplify I was a complete beginner in this field, so it has been an absolute game changer for me. While doing the course I was working overnight and at the weekend in a routine job while studying for a degree, but I wanted to make a change, so the result has been fantastic and very motivating for the years to come.
What are you doing now?
I’m still watching markets day-to-day awaiting my start date in August in a trainee broker position for TP ICAP.
What would be your advice for someone wanting to learn to trade or work in financial markets?
Perseverance!
